Default Carb Cleaning problem

Hi

Just took my airhorn of my autolite 2100 carb to clean it. I used bleach to clean the horn. It's clean now but i noticed that the shiny layer of the carb came off with it.
Is this somekind of paint that was on there ? Can i redo this ?

regards
Mike

It's just a clear laquer. You can use a rattle can of clear laquer to touch it up.

Silver, huh? That's cool.....as long as you like it. It won't be seen once you put the air cleaner on anyway, but at least you have the satisfaction to know it is clean. That is a new one on me to use bleach to clean it. Usually, I am out in the tank using carb cleaner and getting stuff under my fingernails. Then I have to use that orange stuff to get my hands clean, then my SWMBO complains that I stink, then I have to take a shower and use some strong sweet smelling soap to get the smell off, then by that time I have had too many beers, so it is off to bed and I have forgotten what I just did to the car.

Yeah I know you won't see it once the air cleaner goes on there but stil... I'd like it to be clean.
Bleach worked fine and very damn fast. Although i wouldn't recommend it anymore. It was in there for 10 minutes and it looked liked the water was boiling. The bleach was eating all the paint. So i took it out and sprayed it clean underneath the shower, the I removed all the paint left behind with my air compressor. Now i am waiting for it to dry ... when its finished i'll add a picture.
