Engine oil in rebuilt roller cam 302
I have been reading about break in oils and what I need. It seems that with a roller cam I just need to run something like a 10w-40 Dino oil to seat the rings.
I have my 302 filled with Havoline 10w-40. Is that okay?
So when I am ready, I prime the engine, check the pressure and that it flows on both heads?
When I start (assuming it will) the engine I don't need to break in the cam, just drive some 2nd gear pulls and decels? About 5 or 6 of these?

you need to seat the rings...id drive conservatively for about 500 miles then you can drive like normal imho.....iirc ford recommends 5-30 on all their engines now...10-40 will be ok assuming its not freezing up there in joisey

what rings are you running? low tension? i've rebuilt several of these motors over the past cpl years, here in se,texas i always just ran 10w-30 penzoil, and a fl1a oil filter..i primed the motors with a old dizzy with the cam gear off and a electric drill..spun the pump until oil came out of all pushrods out of the top of the rockers..i then put it all back together, cranked it up,let it run a lil while, check everything, no leaks, etc let it run until thermostat opens, set timing..and then i always put another new filter on,and threw the one i started the motor with away..just a li caution, to make sure engine assembly lube, grease, etc did not plug the filter
