I have a 70 Cougar with the 5spd Tremec since 98...
I just grabbed a T56 out of an 03 Termie that had about 20K miles on it.
Traded some bodywork ($400 worth) for the tranny so I'm doing good there.
I have the wiring harness as well and I know I'll be using some of it.

Now, I have to re-do the bracket/support and shorten the DS again etc...
The thing is, I have the mechanical speedo right now and that T56 has the electronic set up so here comes my question:
What is the best way to deal with this?
I can get the tail end with the mechanical gear but I don't want to pay $400 for that.
Is there a kit available so I can do the swap myself without replacing the whole tail section, thus being more affordable?
I could get an electronic speedo but then I wouldn't have matching gauges anymore unless the Autometer "ultralite" electrical series is compatible with the OEM VSS system.

Anyone went through that scenario already?
