Ya the old one sure did leak!

I put the old one in front of the computer fan to help it shrink. I hope it shrinks enough!

Isnt there any goop I can use to ensure a good seal?

White grease....I think if you use anything water based the seal will absorb it, like your salava, and swell up.

Mine leaked about four times before I got it right. You might have to manipulate the sealing tabs so that they have more of a lock effect. I used some needle nose pliers and bend them in a bit more. It made putting the seal lock back on a bit harder but it made for a good seal.

I used a rubber mallet and a flat tip screw driver on each of the tabs, tapping them, rotating from tab to tab after a few hits, to get it into place and keeping it centered...if that makes sense. I wish you were in Hawaii, I would come over and give you a hand.

Oh! I hope that you used a brass float for your sender. I got the standard plastic float from Scott Drake and it filled up with gas a few days later and caused my guage to read empty. The brass float worked like a charm though.

I wish I was in Hawaii too! lol. We have a time share in Kauai! Can I use regular grease like used on my wheel bearings? Im going to try it again today.

I ordered the scott drake with the plastic float, but ordered a brass one to replace it with! Glad I did now!

Thanks everyone for he tips, hopefully I can get er today!

I'm not sure what grease does what. I only know that in Mustang Monthly, they used white grease, so I used it and it worked. Might be that it interacts with the fuel somehow or the rubber in a certain way to make a good seal who knows.
