Front rear windows.. reinstallation
Been awhile! We had a baby boy 2 years ago and, well, its pretty much been all about him since. Hope this finds all well.
One of the few things we didn't do ourselves was the installation of the front and rear windows and I'm kicking myself for it now. All 4 corners have leaked since they were install. Took it back to the guy and they still leaked afterwards. Took it to another shop and your guess is correct.. still leaking!
What I've found is they have all used very little adhesive and in areas there is nothing but the weatherstripping and no sealer at all.
So I've decided to strap the little guy in the back seat and do the windows myself.. as I should have from the start. I'll be following the guide from Mustang Monthly which makes it look pretty darn easy. Just wanted to know if I have my order correct for what I'll need.
NPD order with part#s:
6 Tubes of 3M Bedding & Glazing Compound (3M8509)
1 65-68 Windshield Weatherstrip (03110-1B - US Repro/Concourse)
1 65-68 Back Glass Weatherstrip (42084-2B - US Repro/Concourse)
1 Window Reveal Molding Remover (C-T3)
1 Glass Retainer Clip Installer (958-1)
Plus a razzor blade and lacquer thinner for cleanup.
IIRC it takes 2 tubes of B&G Compound per window to seal both the body and glass weatherstrip channels and around the body channel and weatherstrip after glass installation ; before trim goes back on.
*Correct? Figured 6 just in case I need to redo one.
These the best choice for weatherstrips or are there anything better now. Still looking at a 2009 catalog.
Any tips for the window trim removal/reinstall so as to not cause any paint damage?
Thanks!
