Default Is this 1967 mustang a good deal

I love 67-69 just because of the engine room is better. I am going tomorrow to look at this car. I think it is a great deal if it all comes to be true.

looks like a good deal, just look it over good and test drive it like you plan on driving it. I take it you are at Ft. Benning by you sig? I am right across the river in Smiths Station, AL.

Sounds like it needs new valve seals. Not an expensive fix. Go for it. I had a 68 once, loved that car.

Default Bought it

Went and looked at the car. It smoked very little when it started and actually i didnt see it he just told me it did. I looked why it was running and didnt see and smoke. The engine is clean and wiring put together very well. I think I got a great deal for $4500 pluss $4500 was all I had LOL. I use to own a 65 and used this sitee as a crunch and it was great will be on here often asking questions.

The smoke could be anything from water residual in the pipes to anti freeze leak in the heads mixing with the oil to a bad valve seal causing oil to burn. White, blue or black are you typical smoke colours and each represents a different issue. If it smokes at start up, it could just be some water in the muffler burning off, maybe he doesn't drive it every day....you could get lucky.

The car itself looks beautiful. 4500 is a good price as well. Body "look" solid from the hazy pictures...but who knows. That's a great price if the car is rust free. Check the cowls and the rear quarter panels, just behind the rear tires. That place fills up with water from the trunk and has a habit of rusting out. The cowls can collect leaves and crap, get clogged and rust out. Ask if the car leaks inside during rain. Really, you can't get a better deal. Most people ask like 8-10k for these cars in similar condition, they get to watching Barrett-Jackson Auction and think that their "C" code Mustang Coupe is worth 10s of thousands. It's not like you're going to find rust and talk him down to 4k....I mean, 4.5k is a great deal.

Post some pics here once (if) you get it home.

Was this saved up war money? I did the same thing after two tours in Iraq....bought my dream car Fastback six years ago. This site has been responsible for fixing every problem that I have encountered. It has been my daily driver for the past six years, I put on 15k miles last year and am at 4k this year (spent most of the year in Thailand and Laos). As to the motor space in the bay, I have an original 428pi block in a machine shop right now...but that is another story.

Smile just couldnt pass

I bought it and pick it up wensdayor friday. My bank sent him a check since i dont have a local bank. Only rust was under the car surface rust on the frame. That will be the first thing I do. Paint was ok there 5 spots where it chipped. Trunk was like new must have been redone and the floor panels looked the same. I really know 289 and I dont think it is blown but again it took 5 days to blow up my first 289 on a 1965 coupe.
Didnt use Iraq money been back 2 years now. Got it because we paid off $22000 in debt and I would have let this go but thought it was a deal that I could get again. Very minor things need to be done. $5000 will put it at show room condition easy. You are 100% right people think these cars are worth thousands but fail to realize I think 550K 65s were made and same with the 66s. I just like the 67-69 cause they seem a little bigger to me.
I also used this site with my 65. After $1500 and a new engine one post on here fixed my 6 month problem. I installed a new radiotor ran the car took the engine out rebuilt it and it was still over heating. Guy posted ever think to look at the new radiotor since u ran it with abad engine. Had it flushed and it was fixed with no isseus.
