I had a friend with a 250 in his convertible and it would absolutely scald the **** out of its tire.

I received a congratulations certificate from the Iowa State Patrol in 1979 for hitting 100 with my I-6 250 ci 1969 Mustang notch. They have quite a ceremony for this ostentatious event, btw. I was honored to receive this award personally from several of Northwest Iowa's finest law enforcement professionals.

Yeah, 250s will go.

My first car was a 1970 250 6cyl mustang with a 3 speed shift. It was a great car. So I really don't mind keeping the 250. Just anxious to order and start on the body parts.

So, a little bit off here, but you'll see where I'm going with it...

In the mid 80's a track I raced at started a 6cyl sportsman class. All the Chevy guys ran out and built high dollar v-6 engines. We got a 300ci straight 6 ford from a p/u truck, bored and stroked it, and kicked their butts. So build it up, and after busting someone leaving a stoplight watch them stutter when you pop the hood and they see the six banger. If you do this, you should upgrade the suspension to 5 lug to handle it though.

Question engine out without transmission?

I've got all the parts in for the front. Fenders, inner fenders, bumpers, entire front part except the grill. I'm wanting to take out my straight 6 engine out of my 68 and leave the tranny in so I can replace all the inner fenders, weld and paint without the engine in the way. Is this advisable? I just think it would be easier and safer with stuff out of the way. I plan on washing down and repainting the engine as well and figure that would definitely be easier out of the car. But don't plan on messing with the tranny at all. I've tried to look thru alot of posts and don't see anything about this
