Can anyone identify this ignition type?
I just purchased a roller 302 engine for a 65 Mustang fastback project I am working on. The motor was pulled from a running car. When I got the engine on my stand and popped off the distributor cap I saw that it appears to have a type of electronic ignition in it but I have never seen one like this before. I can't see any part numbers or brand name. I have used the Pertronix ignitor kits in the past but this appears to be something different. I didn't look how the distributor was wired before the previous owner pulled the motor so now I am scratching my head on what this is and how it is wired. There are 3 wires coming from it that are orange, purple and black. Obviously the black is most likely a ground but I am unsure of the routing of the others. The number on the side of the distributor is 12127 which dates back to 74-77 but obviously these units had points in them originally. Here are some pictures of the distributor:

thats a Ford Duraspark Distributor.Do a google search, theres a lot of information on them and they are pretty reliable and a cheap alternative to a name brand.

You'll need the dura-spark computer also to make this work. I have had experience with the coil (blue object) experiencing an open which leads to a no- start or quits after running 1/2 hour complaint. FORD made millions of them and I agree they're a pretty solid unit. Also used in 4 and 6 cyls so make sure you have one with 8 poles on the reluctor
