Clutch Equalizer Bar Install

Clutch Equalizer Bar Install
After 35 years off the road, I recently completed the rebuild and install of my 351C in my 1970 Mach1. The problem is I can't install the clutch equalizer bar to the engine side from the frame side or from the engine side to the frame side. There does not seem to be enough room (about 3/4 in) between the engine or the frame. I have jacked up the engine off the mounts, moved the engine toward the passenger side as far as possible to gain more room, but to no avail. I don't want to disconnect the engine from tranny again, and start over again(too old, too tired). How is this done? Need a short cut if there is one. Need help. after 35 years I want to drive this thing before Christmas 2013. Thanks for any help.

It's a geometric pia. Some clever use of angles and moving the engine. Try d/c the transmission mount as well so you can move it around more.
Personally though, my advice...replace it with a McLeod slip on hydraulic. You'd have to pull the trans, and install a m/c which would require a backing plate to reinforce the firewall....but you do it once and you're done. I got tired of dealing with the z-bar really quickly. It's work and money up front that I think is worth it in the long run.
Another option that's less money and work is a cable setup, but you don't get as easy of a pedal as with hydraulic.
Otherwise, you just have to fight the z-bar a little bit.

im not sure if its a different set up them mine but i can remove/loosen the 2 bolts on the frame rail, slide the tube onto the ball mount on the engine then put the bolts back onto the frame rail
