Default Carb options for a 302

1. I got my engine from a United Airlines Ford 73 Econoline Van. My dad tells me its an industrial engine. Does that make it special?

2. I want to get a 4 barrel carb and I want to leave open the possibility of putting a Paxton supercharger on it in later years. What are some good carbs?

Holley Street Avenger. I've got the 670 on mine but the 570 will do just fine as well.

If you want a carb you can use on both a N\A and a supercharged 302cid, you`ll need to buy a carb that is a bit bigger than you need right now. The Holley 4150 650cfm and Barry Grant Demon 650cfm with mechanical secondaries are suited for supercharging after a minor rebuild. Give PaxtonAuto a call and they`ll give some adivce.

The 302's that go into cars are a bit different than one in a truck, but maybe not a van. Something about the car engines have press fit piston pins and the trucks have something beefier. [sm=pcwhack.gif]

Also the Cam is different. The trucks cam was made for Torque and in the cars we want HP. Go Edelbrock or Demon on the carb. The hollys are a pain to tune and rebuild.

Thats very important thanks. I was wondering why I only have around 220 HP. I was already looking at a Demon 650, just wanted to see if there were other viable choices but it seems ill stick with Demon. Ill have to put a new cam on my to do list.
