Everything stock should work with no issues.

How are the rust issues on the front end and engine compartment? If you have some, now would be the time to get them repaired and painted before dropping in the 302.

thanks guys! Soaring, the rust needs to be attended to....i made a post about the frame rails having to be replaced and im still a long ways from dropping the engine in, but wanted to know about the 302 fitting because i plan on buying all the parts at once(frame rails, floorboards, torque boxes etc.).

thanks!

Not a problem with slipping that 302 in your engine bay. The differences between the 289 and 302 are internal, so there will be no exterior differences in dimentions, etc. Get that darn rust out before you even consider what engine, etc. you need to go with.

A 390, 428, 460 will fit in that engine compartment. A 302 has pleanty of room for about anything.
