Default Steering Linkage on a Budget

I am converting the wife's 66 Mustang from a 6 to a V8, and I am in need of steering linkage parts (center link, inner tie rod ends, Pitman arm, idler arm). Where is the best place to buy on a real tight budget? The local auto parts store doesn't have much.

also, not having looked at the V8 steering linkage, I don't know what it looks like. Is the Pitman arm a wear item? How about the center link? Anyone have pictures?

Thanks,

The pitman is different 6 cylinder to V8.

The Idler is different as well.

So, ALL the steering has to be changed--Except the Steering box.

Thanks, Dan, sorry if I wasn't clear - I was aware that I need to change the pitman and idler arm. I was just asking if they are wear parts, because I'll get them from a junkyard if they are non-wear.

Thanks

Anything with a ball or heim joint or rubber bushing is a "wear part".

Yes, but my problem is, I have an original 6 cylinder car, so I don't know what the V8 linkage looks like to determine what has a ball or heim joint on it. That's why I asked for pictures.

I guess I'll just have to hit the wrecking yard and find out for myself.

I'd buy new stuff, Chock supplied the pic above, everything but the sleeves are wear parts.

The problem with building a V8 car from a 6 cyl car on a tight budget is that the car ends up being a car built on a tight budget. I've never been the guy who throws money at a project, but, if spending money is required to do it right and safe, then I spend the money. Buy the suspension components from Chock. He knows what you need and is not the most expensive by a long shot. You and your car will benefit in the long run.
Best,
Al
