Help Identifying Parts
#21
Looks like I'll be able to get the hoses in the morning and they should just attach the hard brake lines without problem and I'll be good. I don't get how the calipers look exactly the same except for that brake line point. I must be missing something or else the re manufactured calipers come different.
keep us posted.

So the brake hoses didn't fit and I'm going to have to find a caliper rebuilt kit that will fit... Considering the caliper was the same in everyway when I picked up the 79 Granada calipers I'll just get the rebuilt kit for that.
What a goofy problem... Also I looked at the other side caliper and it is clearly a remanufactured caliper so it had been changed at one point... No clue still what car these came off of.

No, they didn't fit the hard line already on the car.
Weird caliper we found at advanced that seemed to be close to fitting. SLC218 and SLC219 are the part numbers.
I will post pictures now that I was sanding and prepping the old calipers for paint which showes the connecting point for the brake line to the caliper had been filed down... You can clearly see it had been grounded on to make flat for the banjo fitting.
These are the problems with buying a mustang that is pieced together and trying to restore it.

Are you sure you have Granada calipers? Our '67 was modified before we got it and some one just put on '68 front discs. Original 67 front discs were 4 piston type which were changed to single piston in 68. Many people change the original drum fronts to Granada but that has some problems. You need to put bushings in the spindle ball joints and tie rods because the Granada had a different taper. One of our calipers need repair but it was cheaper to buy a rebuilt, I think in the neighborhood of $35.00 each so we just put the rebuilt 68 single piston ones on from Mustang Barn. 2 sizes of holes in Mustang calipers for non-banjo type lines. One is 3/8-24 and the other is 7/16-24. Our new calipers took the smaller hose. We actually used the hose for a 67 front disc because it was 7/16 and did not have any metal attachments. CJpony A1404-1 The other end is a standard metal to metal connection common to most brake lines. These are NPT threads no washer is used.
There are also 2 rotor thickness for the 68 mustang .935" and .94" Bendix PRT1018 and PRT1019 respectively. Don't know why such a small difference. If you replace the rotors get the ones with the inner bearing installed.
All the other components are standard 68 front disc parts, pads, retainers screws etc.
Hope this helps

When you rebuild the old one look carefully at the bores. Original bore was chrome plated and in many instances the chrome has failed in areas and leaves pits and pock marks. Re-chrome has not proved real effective and usually leads to leaking calipers.
