65 Heater Control Help!
So I took the convertible to a show today with the top down, and because of the cold temeratures outside, I pushed down the temperature and heat controls. The temperature came back up when I parked it, but the heat is stuck. These are cables, right? How hard is it to trace them under the dash? Is there a common place they hang up? Could something need lube? HELP! I didn't want to tell my Grandpa (the owner) because he has a surgery this week, so he doesn't need another thing to worry about, so I just want to fix it without telling him.

Yeah they are just cables that attach to a couple different levers on the heater box and one for the defrost. They are easy to trace. They may just be showing their age, getting jammed inside the plastic sleeve. Sometimes the flaps inside the heater box don't move too easy so the cables are harder to move. Just follow the cable that's stuck and you should be able to see what the problem is. I'm guessing it's at the heater box somewhere

most commonly it is the door inside the heater box. there is a short lever on it. try to move it. sometimes it needs wd40 on it where it enters the box.
you can also open the fresh air vent door on the passenger side and reach in and move it.
remove the cable from the lever and see if the door is sticky. then try the cable by itself.

Gee, I thought that I would be sticking half my arm in the heater box lol. I gave it a push and it opened right up. I sprayed the door a bit, but it still sometimes locks if you fully open the door. Consider the heater gets used twice a year (on a cold year), I can live with this for now. Thanks guys!
