Default Dealer installed dual exhaust?

I have an A code mustang fastback with dealer installed GT package.

What appears to be factory installed, Quick ration steering, front disc brake, 4-speed top-loarder trans and pony interior ( 5 bezel instrument group from factory.) Build date Feb 18, 1965.

The dual exhaust set up does not look factory, but notice the welded and threaded frame rail bolt/support for the exhaust.

Question: Would a a code car come without dual exhaust and what about the threaded bold inside the frame rail?

Thanks!

Those threads are for tie-down plates found on all Mustangs.

That doesn't look like dealer installed, more like Humphery and Buck installed.

You can buy correct dual exhaust mounting brackets online so you can remove those incredibly long bolts. Not only is that setup rigged those bolt could stab a passenger in the backseat if you hit a large bump in the road.

At the very least, take a pair of bolt cutters and lop them off to a more acceptable length then tidy them up with a rasp.

Thanks, guys! I thought all A codes were dual exhaust cars - guess not.

Factory GT's only. You may want to put some extra re-inforcement metal on the inside of those screws so you don't bend/warp the unibody.

nope, strangely enough, a dual exhaust non gt 65 - 66 car is virtually unheard of for some odd reason that seems to defy logic . . "lets build a more powerful engine and put sh_tty single exhaust on it" . . what an incredibly brilliant idea.

The T-code, C-code, A-codes (non-GT) were designed to run very quiet, which included the use of the single exhaust. Its one of the reasons why they used the large plastic timing gear sprocket!

I heard a stock 55k original mile C-code running once and you could barely tell it was running.

Thanks again! So it must have been very common for A-code, non factory gt car owners to add the dual exhaust.
