Default I'm thinking about EFI

I'm trying to decide whether or not to add a efi set up to the refreshed 331 that will be completed in a couple weeks.

Please comment and recommend if you have experience. I'm interested in the Atomic set up, the Fast unit and the Edelbrock.

All opinions are welcome

If $2500 is worth it to you, go for it. Since I don't drive mine more than once a week, I have not yet justified it to myself. It would be nice though.
I think the ones you mentioned and a couple of others should all work fine.

FAST Sportsman or XFI depending on what features you want.

They also have a new EZ-EFI 2, but since the release of the Sportsman unit, it's hard not to go with that since it has better tuning features.

just another thing to fail in the middle of nowhere . . the fast unit is chinese.

if you have a big cam it will be difficult to tune efi.

muscle cars use carburetors . . my grandmas car has efi.

Everyone's EFI is Chinese, or Taiwanese...that's where all the electronics are made these days with very few exceptions. The electronics are extremely reliable, the only parts that fail on EFI are mechanical and sensor components, because they typically have moving parts or resistor components that fail over time.

The only parts I've had fail on FAST stuff over the years were a couple sensors and 1 fuel pump, which was a Walbro. Ususally MAP and TPS sensors are the ones that go, since they have moving components that wear out.

As for large cams, FAST is intended to be used with extreme racing applications as well as street applications. It has no issues managing idle even on engines too extreme for the street. And with the real time barro and fuel pressure monitoring upgrade, you can actually get some pretty tame idling from a rather beefy engine. It's way easier to tune something using the FAST system than it is with a carb.

From a reliability standpoint, anything that can go wrong with a carb can also go wrong with EFI, since they have the same basic moving parts. EFI has the addition of sensors and regulators etc, so there's more to go wrong. EFI is also a fair bit more expensive than even a really good carb setup.

I have the MSD Atomic EFI setup on a 408W stroker in my 67 fastback. This is along with a MSD ignition box, pro billet distributor. Shortly after I installed it a component did fail that required me to send the unit back to MSD as aparently is was not "field serviceable". To their credit, they did ship out a replacement unit to minimize down time. It has been running perfectly ever since. I will be putting EFI on my 67 coupe as well in just a couple of months. (project car) I was considering going with another EFI product, but at this point, I will most likely install the exact same setup to make any future troubleshooting easier since I can swap parts from one to the other.

I will never go back to a carb. Hands down this has been the best my motor has ever run!
