The best over the counter spot/stain remover is Folex. Spray it on the stain and let it dwell for a few minutes and then come back and wipe offwith a white terry towel. This can be found at Walmart,Target, and Lowes. Great product and has no smell.

I've tried everything include my home carpet cleaner, but the best for me was Mr. Clean. I really worked the dirt out. You have to scrub a bit, but it has worked the best. Get the orange color and it leaves a nice, clean scent. BTW - use a shop vac to clean up the water and soap,

I've used two products with excellent results. One was already mentioned..Resolve (High Traffic Foam) and 3M Auto Care Scotch Guard Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner.

303 carpet cleaner is my favourite. It cleans very well, does not suds up, and will not leave any residue behind. Exactly what a good carpet cleaner should be IMO.
