If my car was stock, I would seriously dought that a stock v6 camaro could beat it...
I just simply don't see it happening, my friend has a v6 bird and when riding in it, it just dosn't have the kick.

72MachOne99GT I was talkin normal, I just talk like that. Internet lacks facial expressions.
btw, got a cleveland in that mach? My wife has a 71' M Code 4V cleveland. The engine is getting rebuilt right now. In 71 the had the M code that had 285hp and the Q code that had 280hp (Cobra Jet) though it was 5hp less it had a ton more torque, but I dont remember either torque specs and the one I wish we had would be the rare R code 330hp 4V Cleveland. Though her original build information online says its the 330hp option but doesnt mention the R code, eh I dunno, all I know is that the engine will be awesome when its done.
It's got the Q Code, which in '72 was the more powerful of the two (cause it was the 4 barrel)
only 266 hp and 301 lb/ft tq
there were some R codes left over in '72 that made something in the 275 range, but like you said, lacked some torque
what color is yours? and is it an auto?
my dads is in alright shape, if it was gonna be a professional rebuild, it would take ALOT ALOT of work, but as it is, we just want it to run strong, (and it looks A++ from abuot 10 feet away)
up close its got a couple spots that arent perfect, but there is no surface rust (just a tad in the floor and we refabricated the trunk pan)
Its flamingo Grey with vermilion red interior. Its an Auto but the rear seat doesnt fold down.
The floor pans are completly shot in the car but the body is beautiful, the paint has no clear on it though.
Its a shell ready for The works, it was complete but I tore it down and we are starting the long process.
We wanted to put a TKO600 in it behind the cleveland and rebuild the baby C6 for later.
Welp I better be off, have fun with that car and dont sell her, they are becoming very popular.

that's one of the reasons my dad wanted it so badly
his sister had a 71 or 72 when they were younger and she was gonna sell it after it'd been stolen and fixed up, but he didnt think it'd be a very good choice being 20 and going into the air force
so now he's just working on making this one a nice summer car for weekends and some drive in cruises and what not
I have owned the 97 firebird, 99 camaro, and the 97 vette in the past. I can say that the mustang GT cannot compete with any of them. The Cobra that came out in 2003 can however out perform almost everything that GM has on the market. I have seen the 2004 Cobra run against the 2004 ZO6 and the Cobra did come out first. Could have been a bad driver in the vette, but a win is a win. The 2005 and up GT's are faster that the Z28's and run head to head with the SS. They are very close to the older C5 vette. Not much slower, a few mods and they are an even race. I am still wating to see what the new Shelby will do against the C6 ZO6. I have driven the new ZO6 and am very doubtful that the Shelby can out run it. As far as camaro and mustang competion goes, you need the newer Cobra to out run them.
we can try it out right now...i have the 2 enemies in the garage now a 2000 camaro 3.8 and a 2007 mustang 4.0....somebody can drive the maro while i drive the stang...
Crank horsepower is a tough way to determine whats faster. I have the 0-60 (first number) and 1/4 mile times (second number) for a few mustangs and camaros. Not a complete list, but they are all bone stock.
