i ran thru the gears with a steeda tri ax in my buddies 98 last night...idk it felt kinda notchy tho...
The notchy feeling comes from the transmission. There are no detent mechanism in the shifter. You feel it in the aftermarket shifters because you lose your leverage from the shorter handle.

I prefer either PRO 5.0 or Tri Ax shifter mechanism with a longer shifter handle.

Tri Axe is the best ive ever used. I bought one for $150, and took me about 1/2 hour to install. I would recommend it.
