Default erratic idle/stalling

Hey there.. I am new here and hoping you can help... I have an 88 5.0 new motor with trickflowheads, trickflow intake. e303 cam, 65mm bbk throttlebody and egr spacer.. Its a 5speed car and it souns great running.. but the idle will jump up to 1500 and hold there after a few it will drop back to about 850.. When i drive it and pull to a stop it dies.. Ive set idle according to a friend at ford... I checked for vac leaks and havent come up with any.. Any ideas???
thanks
dave

I tried starter fluid and brakeclean... there is no change... i was told by a friend at ford he thinks the iac failed or has some gumming up in it.. i ordered a new one to try but want to get this thing dialed in
thanks

Ok I replaced the iac, egr, tps, and both o2 sensors.... car runs better but in neutral I will snap throttle to about 3000 and it will drop to about 1300 hold there for a few sec then settle back at about 880 to 900... I now have a check engine light too... how do i reset or check.. thanks

Ok 1 last try before i pull out all my hair... I finaly got the codes from the comp and1 is 54 indicating act signal has failed at the hi end indicating -40 deg f... wtf is that
the 2nd is 63 tp signal failed at low end. i know thats throttle position.. i tried new sensor and no luck but all the ones i get have no adjustment... i know i can slot the holes and did so.. i hook up new sensor and run car with it off and turn the sensor manualy and the throttle changes.. so how do i set it correctly.. and when im done how do i reset the codes..
i dont have a factory temp guage in the car.. i installed autometer temp guage and cut out the factory temp guage wire.. did i f-it up??
thanks for the help

Here we go... f all the other crap wrong with my car.. the check engine light is out cause the act plug was f-ed up and i fixed it... so no check engine light and the car drives like a champ.. when i got home from a roadtest to make sure everything was good the idle jumped to 1500 held there for 15-30 sec then droped to 850.. ran there for a few then right back up to 1500 and continued to do this for about 5 min then i shut it down.. i was checking all my elect plugs and all were good.. there was no check engine light while this was happening.. wtf is this all about.. the car runs and drives great but this neutral idle jumping is odd to me..
thanks
