bad clutch loosing power? help!
hey im trying to sell my 96 gt conv 5spd i just stopped driving it since its winter and im driving my truck now.
i just bought a 97 cobra that i will be driving once spring comes.
the clutch feels soft, its chattering and i can feel a vibration.
shifts arent as firm as well.
i also noticed it doesnt do two wheel burnouts anymore.
and overall it doesnt seem as powerful as it used to be.
its has 119k miles. the engine seems fine and theres no cel codes.
i need to sell the car and id like atleast 4500 cause overall its a nice car but i dont know if i can sell it with these issues

If I was looking to buy a car, the clutch issue might make me shy away from it. You could always raise the price of the car up enough to cover a clutch job and then tell perspective buyers that you will take that much off because it needs a clutch job.

If you struggle to put it in any gear, you hear a squeak even when you're not touching the the throw out bearing it could be that, Have you replaced the clutch before or do you know if the previous owner did?
I had to do a clutch job on my V6 at 105k miles but it just needed a new tob but the car shouldn't be feeling slower cuz of that.
Have you tried a tune up? dunno...

the motors running strong it has all new plugs wires coils and fuel filter and i just had a mechanic replace the 02 sensors and cats to get it running right again. but it feels like somethings holding it back. doesnt seem as fast on acceleration and it has a vibration more noticable in the higher rpms.
it still has alot of power. i raced a cobalt ss recently and it took him awhile to catch up to me and when he did he had me by a nose then i had to switch over into his lane so not too bad.
i still have people interested in the car which is good i just dont want someone buying it and being pissed cause of the issues so im trying to list the problems the best i can.
its a great car and i know someone will be very happy with it once its back to normal cause it used to run great and chirp second.
i never replaced the clutch i dont know if any of the previous owners did but i doubt it.
sometimes its hard to get into 1st and reverse, grinds going into 2nd and 5th sometimes for no reason.

I would take it to a reputable shop to have it looked at. Most of them shouldn't charge you to just take it for a test drive. Any good mechanic will be able to tell if you are having clutch problems with a short test drive.
