Removing my T45 on Saturday
Looking for some good advice on pulling the transmission out of my 96 GT while it is still in the car. Just looking for some basic steps from people that might do this alot and know some short cuts and the easiest way to get it out and a new one back in. I will be doing this without a vehicle lift.[:'(]

RE: Removing my T45 on Saturday
On the ground its easiest to get it up on four jack stands as high as you feel safe going. It will make getting the tranny out from under the car easier
1.Start by removing the shifter know by spinning it off.Not sure on what you have but mine has little allen to loosen first
2.then pop off the shifter boot cover by pulling up on the back towards the console
3.remove 4 8mm screw that hold down rubber shifter isloater
4.remove 6 9/16 bolts holding shifter in
5.next get under car and remove h-pipe and rear driveshaft bolts being careful not to let the needles bearings fall from the caps(wrap tape around U-joints to hold caps on.Leave the driveshaft in the tranny so you dont get covered in fliud when you tip it
6.next remove the cover over your clutch cable on the drivers side of the tranny 4 8mm/5/16 bolts then get pry bar and pry the fork forward to release the cable from it or if theres two people one push the clutch and the other put something to hold it from moving back and pop off cable.
7.Install jack under tranny pan with a board on it so you do no damage and then remove I think 8 9/16 bolts around bellhousing remembering were the long ones go
8.Next get a pry bar and pry the tranny back(it might slide right off the retainer/guide pins without the pry bar)Make sure you keep track of the two little retainer/guide pins they get lost easy.Keep sliding it back till the input shaft is all the way out and your all set!Its pretty easy but be careful the tranny can be heavy by yourself.
To reinstall just follow the steps backawards and you 'll be all set
Hope this helps man

RE: Removing my T45 on Saturday
I took the starter off when I had the exhaust off so it was alot easier but still a pain in the butt. Not sure if there is an easier way than to remove the X or H pipe I hanvn't had to do it with the exhaust on yet.
P.S. your a/c problem is in the vacum lines you describe the exact problem I had.
