Wow thanks a lot guys for all your opinions on the different subjects.
I think i'll go with a hard top for sure. As far as having a GT or V6 goes, i think that I should start off with a V6 and maybe go for a GT in a few years, once I reach 25-27 years old. Right now I'm 20. I have no accidents and only 1 minor speeding ticket so insurance shouldn't be that bad for a V6.
As for the models, I like the 94 and 95 5.0's shown by fordracer's pic but I still feel as if I should get a 99-03 V6, which could last a lot longer and give me a good price for my money. Now, where is the best place to actually look for a V6 and what price / millage should I try to get ? I will obviously try to get a car with the lowest price and millage as possible but as I said, I only have 10-13K to put in the car and I don't want to blow all my money at once on the car. If possible, I'd like to make some small modifications later on the car. Out of 12K, for example, how much should I keep for modifications and how much should I spend on buying the car itself?
Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciated all of your comments. Keep them coming!

Your insurance shouldn't be that high. It depends on where you live but my insurance is affordable, and we're the same age. Sure, it's higher than all my friends, but you're paying for the mustang name and it being considered a sports car.
I would put no more than 10k into the car, depending on what year you go with it could be lower or higher. You should be able to find one with low miles for a good price.
Best of luck!!

RE: What kind of mustang should I buy?
i love the 99-04 mustangs, im not quite 17 and bought the car myself so i was limited to a 99 v6. i would take a gt over a v6 anyday, but i still love my car. BTW, i paid 5000 bucks last october for my 1999 v6 with 80k miles. take about 1 grand off after the 05s came out and you can get a 99 for 4-5 grand easily. insurance is cheaper, gas is more affordable, power is there, but the agessive sound and v8 with more power are not. id take the gt, but a v6 isnt bad at all

RE: What kind of mustang should I buy?
If you put gears and true dual exhaust on a 99+ V6 it's a great car, even if it's an auto. A 99+ GT also can really benefit from a gear change to replace the stock 3.27s. A manual of either kind deserves a good short-throw shifter. I think I'll stop talking about modding now...it's a disease!
