Default ac compressor

I have a 2000 V6 mustang with 8.8 rearend, h-pipe true dual exhaust, diablo programmer, shaker hood, and a bunch of other power mods...I was thinking about taking out my ac bc it doesn't work and rather than replacing it, i was gonna take it out and get a shorter belt for my car....would this procedure be worth it will i gain any power at all? let me know if anyone has done this to their car

The A/C doesn't eat up any HP when it's turned off and if it's not working at all then it's just the weight of the compressor, evaporator, and condenser. The weight savings would be maybe 15 lbs if you were to remove everything. Is the A/C completely junk or does it only need charged? You might want to think about removing the entire unit as resale value will suffer.
