Default fender stripe?

So.., i think these look kool and am thinkin bout getting them in white but before i do i wanted to ask what the deal with the stripes on the drivers side? I know that some vettes came with them like the Gran sport or some crap like that.., well basically i dont want put no chevy trade mark crud on my nice oval stang!!

They're called pit stripes, basically it was a way for race teams fielding several similarly painted cars to easily identify which drivers car was coming into the pits (i.e. one driver on a team might have red on the fender while another had black)

Very common on 60's race cars like the Cobra, so no worry about it being a "Chevy" thing (Yes, the Gran Sports had them, but Chevy killed that program almost before it started, with only 5 cars built, there were FAR more Cobras running around with them, and the Ford association with pit stripes is much stronger)

Here's a shot from '63 showing a Cobra with pit striping, which could be on either side depending on the configuration of the pits at the track the cars were on (Cobras didn't race NASCAR )
