cammed engine??
Years ago I asked for a shaker hood scoop. Found it, got it, but you know what? IT DOESN'T SHAKE MUCH, even with 350HP. The car is now down to bare bones, redoing the whole darn thing. I want to build the engine to have the largest cam possible. Sorry guys and girls, it isn't running the streets ever again. I have turned it into a desirable "show car". (don't worry I have a drivable one too.) The problem I have is I haven't heard a cam big enough to make me drool like the old 60's cars. (I was born in the wrong era I think.) Anyway, I need ideas on how to build this 302 or any version thereof into the car with the biggest cam possible. I don't care about gas mileage, driveabitly, horsepower, hydraulic lifters or if has a roller cam or any thing else. I will trailer it most places, and possibly (if I can) drive it down the street to the local club once in a blue moon.
Just so we are tracking, it is a 1988 convertible. It currently has subframe connectors, 3:73 gears, rebuilt (I mean really rebuilt) AOD tranny ( I can run up to 4,000 rpm stall). The intention is to build a carbureted engine that shakes sooo much that you can't hold on, and sounds so good, it will make a big block tuck its tale. I am thinking about getting a pre-83 302 with a flat tappet cam and cam it up? Should I stay with the roller engine if they have a cam that is big enough? Any ideas?
