Default It doesn't get much more general than this...

I was trying to change the front tire, got the lug nuts off, and tire refuses to come off because of rust. So fire I've tried:

Kicking the living hell out of it
Lowered it back onto the ground with the lug nuts off to use the car's weight to break it loose
With the lug nuts loose drove back and forth a few times and braking hard
With the lug nuts loose steered back and forth in place.

Damn thing refuses to budge.

I don't have a rubber mallet or a sledge hammer to hit the inside of the wheel with. Someone suggest I use my spare tire and swing that around and hit the top of the tire. Should I try that?

I had sprayed WD-40 prior to my attempts but didn't wait real long before trying. I sprayed a good bit more and will try again tomorrow. Any other suggestions on what I could try, or should I just break down and take it somewhere?

Probably the second method described here if you don't have a decent hammer:

(the key being some sideways force on the rim while moving, not back and forth)

I didn't have the space for much turning, but if I can't get it off any other way tomorrow I'm going to a empty parking lot and trying that.

But I did find a rather large sledge hammer! If the WD-40 doesn't work hopefully that does. Thanks for the reply.
