Default 1966 289 overheating

I'm at my wits end with this one, any help would be so appreciated. I have an overheating problem I can go four miles without it getting hot eventually overheating. City, highway doesn't matter, doesn't even cool down on highway. Had this problem since day one but seems worse now???
So here I go, I replaced. Thermostat, water pump, hoses, larger radiator, belts, fluids, motor was just rebuilt and block cleaned, head gaskets on right, timing with mild cam is 8 degrees with no vacuum advance and seems spot on, transmission is shifting just fine, had a shroud, made no difference, had engine block tested for leak but mechanic said it was just fine.
I can't figure this one out, HELP!!!!!!!

Is the radiator hot also? Or just the block? I'm asking to try a narrow it down. If it gets that hot in a mile or two, sounds like it's not even circulating, meaning T-stat or pump. New doesn't always mean good.

Assuming all the air pockets are out of the system.

And welcome to the forum, we'll help you get it straightened out.

Welcome to the forum. Some thoughts. I have a /66 289 auto that used to over heat in 4 miles. It turned out that one day my t-stat stuck shut, the car boiled over and then went dry by the time I made it home. Long story short, after much head banging it turned out that the overheating caused the block to flake off a pile of crap. I would get the rad cleaned, put it all back together and go a couple of miles and the rad would be plugged up again. I ended up getting a Gano filter and could not believe the crap it collected for 2 years (summer driving) Just a thought. We need more. Mark

Nice cool air being sucked in, hot air blowing on other side. Radiator hot and new, fluid moving through ( wonder if it's not making it all the way through? ) New thermostat.

For the car to overheat in a few minutes, you can imagine that not much cool water is replacing hot very fast. Can you see water moving left to right when looking into the rad neck? If not, could the water pump impeller have come loose?. If it is, is the entire rad hot to the touch? (hotter at the top, cooler at the bottom? And put that shroud back on with the fan blade 1/2" inside the shroud. Mark
