Default 2015 Mustang Clutch Failed - Help please?

Hi everyone. Well according to the mechanic the 'rear' clutch on my 2015 Mustang GT (with 8k miles) has failed. My car is 100% stock and has the Performance Package with the Torsen differential, which begs the question: where is the 'rear' clutch? They quoted me $1200 to fix it which includes a brand new OEM clutch, flywheel, and slave cylinder. Anyone know what items should be covered under warranty?

Thanks in advance for the help, you guys are great!!

its a 2015 and is under warranty by time and miles, it should cost you nothing, the rear clutches in the differential give you the limited slip (posi) function, if that is what you are asking.

A Torsen rear end does not use clutches, so what are they referring to as the rear clutch? Are they confused about which rear end you have? If this is about the rear end, what does the flywheel & slave cylinder have do do with anything in that case? It sounds like you are being fed a line of BS.

I've never heard the clutch between the engine and transmission referred to as a "rear clutch". One important bit of missing information is what are the symptoms you are having?

The warranty is 12 months or 18,000 miles for the clutch. I got more information today, it appears the pressure plate failed. Since my 2015 Mustang only has 8k miles, shouldn't Ford fix?

I thought so. Symptoms: the clutch stopped working completely and it was impossible to put the car in any gear. From talking to the dealership, the pressure plate or a part of the clutch assembly failed and broke. Since I have owned my 2015 Mustang only 15 months with 8k total miles, shouldn't Ford cover it?

not if the warranty start date (date of 1st owner purchase) was more than 12 months ago. thus the 12 month or 18k miles......whichever comes first

But there's a 3-year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 5-year 60,000 mile power train warranty. Seems like it should be covered unless they are trying to argue abuse.

a clutch is a wearable item, and lets face it, a commonly abused item on a mustang. clutch dumps, burn outs, and inexperienced drivers all cause failures. this is why it has a limit to its coverage. its no different than brakes, the pads are covered for 12 months or 12 k miles. i had a newspaper delivery person pissed off because his brakes wore out at 7k miles, not covered.
