I agree.. you shouldn't need to replace your engine (which is what most people who love their jap cars base their engine life on).. but I'm sure you'll have to do somethings to your engine to continue its life.. (sorry.. don't mean to turn this into a Domestic Vs. Foreign issue..) just, that anyone who takes care of their car well is going to experience a long life with only needing to replace what is needed...

at work we had to replace the tranny after only 50k miles on our expidition.. but this was because the idiots were driving like maniacs while hauling.. going way too fast.. not braking soon enough.. etc... now some people would say a honda or a toyota wouldn't do that.. but im sure in the same sitiation any tranny would fail...

If you were driving mostly highway I'd sayyou'd have a slim to fair chance. But if you're driving 70% city I really doubt it, not without putting a lot of cash into it. Putting 300,000 miles on a vehicle with that much city driving means a LOT of wear on the engine, starting system, suspension, brakes, interior, etc..

What are the odds of a GT lasting over 300,000 miles? Mine has 28,000.I do 70%city/30%highway driving, change oil every 3,000 miles with royal purple, and I pour a can of BG 44K inthe gastankwith theoil change also. I don't get into it much, my right foot can behave when I want it to. Any suggestions on this engine?

The following is based on IL State Police.

15,000 mi OCI with M1, Amsoil, or Royal Purpleor 5,000 mi OCI with MC Synthetic Blend.
50%+ Idle Time. Extensive Full Throttle Acceleration and Sustained Top End Runs.
Under those conditions the 4.6L 2V usually last 240,000+ mi.

Under less strenous conditions with less idle time and less extensive pursuit use they last 400,000+ mi with the same OCI's.

They had to stop the 15,000 mi OCI with Synthetic because the officers kept letting them run out of oil.
The 4.6L tends to use a Qt every 1800 mi or so under sustained high-speed pursuit work.

I dont forsee the 3V lasting any less time unless the cam phaser fails.
