+1 on the exhaust hangers. just had this same problem, it's the hangers being pushed too far into the brackets. take it to an exhaust shop, have them use a torch to heat the base of the hanger, and tap the hanger with a hammer (from the rear tapping towards the front). this will bend the hanger back a bit, giving it some clearance so it's not rubbing the bracket. you'll also notice less exhaust vibrations since they won't be transfered to the chassis anymore. good luck

You may also want to check out the hangers offered at Brenspeed. At the bottom of this page: http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_2005/mufflers.html

I had this problem too... I taped a rubber hose around the piece that goes from the tip into the hanger, and that has cured the issue.

I have no pics at the momeny.... but what it actually was old weatherstripping off of a 1958 vettethat I used lol. I cut it open so that it would fit around the rod thing (from the tip, through the hanger), and rapped it with electrical tape. It has more of a foam-ish feel than rubber hose. hopefully this helps.

Not exactly.

The piece that is welded to the tip, which goes through the bracket, just below thatis what I wrapped. Some people have cut out a piece of the bracket, so that it doesnt rub anymore- This is the alternative. I didnt actually wrap the part that goes INTO the bracket, I wrapped the upward sloping rod that looks sort of like this: /
that part is hitting the bracket! which if you're imagination is good enough, the bracket looks like this: []
This part goes through the hanger: -

So in summation,I wrapped this ~~~[>/-[]-

sounds like a lot of trouble.......my shop performed my fix in 2 minutes, for $5, and it's permanent. wrapping something around the hanger may not last too long if it rubs right through it......

^ I agree... but it helps you not to drive the car off of a cliff. this is one of those temporary fixes, that I havnt permanently fixed yet.
