Boring and stroking stock block
#2
It would cost about the same not to mention the time it takes to find somebody good and then the turn around time of ripping your motor out sending out to be machined....been through this before it always seems to take longer then usual, I would be able to have my car sitting around for weeks maybe months till it's done. Buy a done short block and swap it out it takes a day or two.

Is it necessary to bore out your engine when you stroke it? I dont think it is. To my understanding most kits don't come with oversized pistons so you dont have to bore. Ive been debating whether to install a stroker kit myself. $2k and a week of work?

No matter what you have to have it honed, I was going stock bore until we ran into some issues do to how new it all was at the time. I think the best way to go about it is to buy another block and build it, then just swap. Wish I would have done that now, that's one of the hindsight is 20/20 things. That way you can bush your internals to their max without fear of cracking a block.
Just my $.02, and this kit would run around $2.4k plus whatever you spend in machine work (typically doesn't require clearancing for the stroke) so just a line bore/hone etc. And not to toot my own horn, but this is the kit that Saleen and Steeda use in their strokers

Your only looking at maybe $300 difference, so that's your call. Make a plan and choose accordingly. If I can be any help let me know!
