It's almost embarassing to admit it, but driving the car now compared to before is night and day. I should have looked under and around the car to figure out what was causing the issue.
There were several clues yelling at me, I just didn't realize it.

I used to work in Predictive Maintenance at a nuke plant for a number of years and you'd be surprised how equipment "speaks" to us. We just rarely listen...
wow, good thing it didn't break the rest of the way loose and spin in the engine bay! friend of my dad had that happen to his car at the track, huge mess!

Huge mess? I'd about say FUBAR!
I can see the tranny being toasted if it's angle to the driveshaft hits a certain point and the drive train locks up. The shock of the sudden stop is sure to eat up teeth on tranny gears, or maybe also the diff gears.
I can also see the block getting cracked as it bangs around against other stuff in the engine bay.
At the very least, the headers and the rest of the exhaust plumbing are ruined.
Like I said earlier, no more crazy twisting and I bet that the weight shift at full throttle while powershifting at the track had everything to do with me getting out of shape at my shifts.
