What brand clutch are you running?
#22
My spec stage 2 has 18,000 miles on it. I've had zero issues except for some noise in 1st gear a few months back, but it went away.
Who hear has over 20,000 miles on a performance clutch? Anyone?
since when did the stage 2 get bad mouthed along with the stage 2+. there were several shifting issues at high rpms with the stage 2+. I've never experienced that with the stage 2, shifts like butter at high rpms.
Silverhoss, how many years of driving stick do you have? I think that's a better question. I've got 22 years. Any clutch can get smoked.

I am not hear to trash anyone, my personal experience with the Spec's II+ and the Specs company in general is that they both are completely horrible and I would never recommend any of their products to anyone, but that is my opinion.
To the OP who started the thread, if you car is stock or close to it, you don't need anything over the top, just get something that works.

My car is stock other than appearance mods. I am going to do the CAI and SCT Tuner as soon as I can but that's probably going to be it for performance mods. I'm not going to race the car and it's not even driven daily. I'll will probably just go with a stock valeo type clutch kit and get the flywheel resurfaced if possible.

Running a stock resurfaced flywheel, Exedy Mach 400/new slave done @ 30k or so miles. Im almost at 50,000 miles and it still drives like stock but a little stiffer/ less play between engaged and disengaged (feels good).
Im a bolt-on 300 whp car on nittos. Doesnt see the track but it sees some street duty and lots of traffic lately. pretty satisfied I must say.

Either go RST or go EXEDY.
Stay away from SPEC. Too many horror stories.
Had one myself. And horrible customer service if you run into problems.
Basically you will probably be SOL. They left me and MANY members on multiple sites SOL that I have spoke with.
I know every company has some problems but this is not that kind of case. It's a lot bigger.
I did not heed the warning people gave me... and I ended up with a NIGHTMARE.
If you do decide for some weird reason to go SPEC only go with the SPEC 3.
ALL the other ones have HORRIBLE reps in these Mustangs.
And to get the 3 I'd be pushing a lot of trq because too little can mean if you ever have problems your tranny will end up going instead of the clutch.
Again RST or EXEDY.
SPEC.. unless the SPEC 3, is begging for trouble.
And if you do happen to have trouble with the 3, I would not count on them helping you out when you call to get help from them.
