Question Low end torque loss with CAI ?

So I got an Airaid CAI but have been hesitant to install it because ive been told that without a tune i will lose torque at lower rpm's. I know not to expect a big horsepower increase without a tune but would it really decrease low end power on a stock GT ?

It depends who you are getting your tune from. I've tried a few and Brenspeed was the worse for losing torque on the low end, and had the worse mileage, it was really pathetic and they couldn't fix it. If you go with Bama/American Muscle you will be fine, great tunes all around.

I don't think you're going to see loss in the low end power, but I really would highly encourage springing for the tune.

I plan on getting a 91 octane tune from Bama later on but the reason I worry is beacause a friend said he lost torque in his truck with an Airaid CAI and no tune.

How long until you'll be getting a tune? Assuming the Airaid is a "no tune required" intake (I have no idea), you should be fine, but I'd get one as soon as you can to get the most out of it. I wouldn't worry about it though. I doubt there'll be any, and even if there is I bet it'd be small enough you wouldn't even notice it.

Ill get a tune once I have more money and yes the Airaid is a no tune intake if you leave the "Modular Venturi Tube" inside.

I installed an Airaid CAI on my GT and ran it without a tune for about 6 months. I saw no loss of power (it actually felt stronger above 3,000 rpm's) and it ran and sounded great.

It's a great CAI so just install it and enjoy!

On some Stangs, even a no-tune required CAI can cause you to throw a lean code. Regardless, that CAI shouldn't cause you any loss of torque. But then again, you'll barely gain more than 3-5 RWHP w/o a tune.
