Default In dash radio delete / Replacing with gauge panel..

My biggest dilema, since I bought my stang, is trying to figure out where to put additional gauges.. I am not really a big fan of the top dash mount or the pillar mount units..I am seriously considering removing my stock Shaker 500 stereo and building a panel where I could mount gauges..

Has anyone done this??

I am considering a trunk mount stereo (w/ CD changer) (similar to this one: http://www.casmfg.com/Secretaudio.htm )

I am still in the very eaarly stages of this and will welcome all of your input..
