I have kind of an unusual situation. I bought a 2007 GT with 35K miles last October off a dealership lot. When I bought the car it all ready had 4.10 gears, magnaflow axelback & spectre CAI. I have since added the JBA longtube headers and ORH. My next mod is going to be hot rod cams and then obviously a tune is needed. I currently have no tuner so I need to buy one. Here is my dilema:

I can buy the tuner from AM with free tunes for life for $400 OR I can buy a JLT CAI/tuner package for only $200 more.

The spectre CAI is a cheap "no tune required" kit. Would I see any possible gains from switching to a JLT series 3? Or is all the gains in the tune itself so I should just get the tuner and save the $200?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

JLT is a great cai kit for your car. Well worth the money for sure. If a cai says it doesnt need a tune then it really doesnt do much. Get the sct/jlt kit and dont think twice about it. That kit improved my drag times when I was stock a long time ago... from 13.9 stock to 13.4 Worth every penny.

A test of several CAI's and a 91 octane tune was done on an 05 GT when it first came out. The tune added 10 rwhp with the stock air intake installed, and 18-28 rwhp with the "tune required" CAI's installed. The JLT CAI was the overall winner with 28 rwhp.
