Guys, I am curious if anyone has any tips for me on this swap. I do not think it will be that bad. Here is the scenario. I have a near complete 86 4 cyl. coupe and a complete (running) 90 5.0 vert. I plan to completely gut the 86 and take every bit of wiring out of the 90 and put it in the 86. I will have both cars side by side in my garage, so I don't think it will be that bad. I plan to use the 90 dash as well along with the whole fuel system.

If anyone has any tips please let me know. I am starting this project in January. Wish me luck!!

Wait wait wait, why swap a 4 banger for a V8? 4 bangers can be made to be as good or better than a V8 according to many people.

Sorry, making fun. I wish you luck in your endeavor. I think you really have to get the measuring tape out to figure if the drivetrain will fit, tranny/rear axle, or maybe get a 3rd doner wrecked for some of the V8 accoutrements on the 84. My guess is the 90 wiring to an 84 cluster/computer could be a nightmare, I did a 72 Impala to a 64 El Camino and had a nice 64 wiring diagram and just traced it all out. Label your harness with tape, determine necessary voltages and see if it will even work before you rip into it. IMHO of course, mine was a cakewalk compared to what you are going to do.

It will fit just fine because for one, it's same body shell and second, the 86 cars came with the 5.0 as well. First year of fuel injection if I recall.
Just swap all the 90 electric/electronic components into the 86 body and you're done.
