Default motor swap for 2006 mustang

Ok guys I'm sorry to sound like a Noob on this topic. I have a 2006 v6 mustang standard transmission. I am looking to swap the motor out for a new boss302 engine. I just want to know is this possible with the v6 version and can I keep the same standard transmission the v6 has in it until I can afford to get a new transmission later?

First you can't keep the same transmission. It won't mate up and it wouldn't take the power for long anyway.

Putting the 5.0 in is possible, not easy though. With the changes that came in - like electric power steering for one - there are a lot more differences to deal with than with the 4.6 swap. So doable, but will take some work and fabrication to complete it. If you can get a donor car it would be a lot easier.

The 4.6 has been done many times though. Still can't use your current transmission on that swap though.

You also will need to swap the open diff 7.5 rear end for the 8.8.

Jim's right. The T5 would not hold behind the 5.0 power output even if you were able to make it fit, lol.
The point is moot before starting to wrench...

Take a look at this thread (if you have not already) -

I'd talk to this guy since he was going to do it with a V6 until he sold it and got a GT...

I thought they stopped selling Boss Crate motors too. With the amount of money this swap would cost, I think a better bet would be to save money until you can afford a used 5.0 when you sell your V6. The boss crate motor was like 10k i think when they were selling it. You could still buy a coyote and slap on the boss intake if you just wanted that boss look, but the forged pistons, revised cam and rods, and the revised heads are going to cost a fair bit of change.
