Haha, I guess GM is willing to lose money on each SS sold to heat up the market for its new pony. I doubt the 30K base figure will stay.....sounds like introductory pricing to me. First year dealer markups are gonna cancel out alot of that discount IMO. The base model priced out about where I expected it to.

I think the car is butt ugly inside and out but under 23k for a 300hp scares me. I really thought it would cost something like 25k-26k. Though it will probably cost at least that with dealer markups. Ford really needs to put the Duratec 37 inside the 2010 base V6. It would weigh in at 300 lbs less then the Camaro and would probably keep up at the strip.

You will not find an SS for less then 35k for the first year. Again because of markups and because it will probably be hard(just as it was for the GT/GT500) to find a bare bones model.

Agreed. You won't find many ppl getting a 30K SS the first year out. In fact, it's very likely you'll be seeing ppl paying close to 40K for the 2010 models. And I'll be very surprised if the base price doesn't go up by a few grand on the 2011 cars. There's way too much car in this SS for GM to be making any money on it selling it for 30K. Either that, or that "upscale" interior is made of geniune cheap crap that'll start to fall apart after a couple of years. Hopefully that's not the case.

And I agree with another thing: good luck finding anything close to a base optioned SS on any dealer lots. I couldn't even find a stripper GT back in 05.......had to order it from the factory. Most GT's on the lots were fully decked out with every option, or close to it.

why would anyone want to buy a completely stripped version? If I bought a new Camaro I'd go for the fully loaded SS

???? It's never a very good idea to load any car up. If you buy a base BMW 335 for say 38k before T&T and compare it to someone that buys a loaded 335 vert for 57k before T&T, do you really think those options are worth a Mazdaspeed3? They are not. I use to audit Ford dealerships....I know that both Ford and its dealers make a ton of money off of optioned cars, the more the better, thats were the money is.

You will never see options hold much value when you go to sell it. For instance my buddy has a 2006 Mazda 3 fully loaded that went out the door at 23k. I got an 06 Mazda 3s hatch with no options(the hatches come with more standard features then the 4 doors, like A/C, power windows/locks, 2.3l motor, etc) out the door at 18k. My car has a little less miles and has the same blue book value.

Cuz that's what the mulletheads have been pining for since the announcement of the new Camaro.............a 400hp car for well less than 30K. Something only possible if you plan to get it with zero options. GM's being slick. 30K for a no options SS. But as you said, not very many ppl will want zero options......and even fewer will go for no options after test driving one the loaded cars that the dealerships will be stocking up on. So, yea....theoretically you can get one for 30K. But you'll have to have some good connections at the right dealer, and you'll probably have to order it from the factory.

I still stand by what I predicted earlier.......most ppl will be paying 32K+ for the SS model. And that's assuming that they can land one with NO markup.
