Haha, I guess GM is willing to lose money on each SS sold to heat up the market for its new pony. I doubt the 30K base figure will stay.....sounds like introductory pricing to me. First year dealer markups are gonna cancel out alot of that discount IMO. The base model priced out about where I expected it to.

I think the car is butt ugly inside and out but under 23k for a 300hp scares me. I really thought it would cost something like 25k-26k. Though it will probably cost at least that with dealer markups. Ford really needs to put the Duratec 37 inside the 2010 base V6. It would weigh in at 300 lbs less then the Camaro and would probably keep up at the strip.
You will not find an SS for less then 35k for the first year. Again because of markups and because it will probably be hard(just as it was for the GT/GT500) to find a bare bones model.

And I agree with another thing: good luck finding anything close to a base optioned SS on any dealer lots. I couldn't even find a stripper GT back in 05.......had to order it from the factory. Most GT's on the lots were fully decked out with every option, or close to it.

You will never see options hold much value when you go to sell it. For instance my buddy has a 2006 Mazda 3 fully loaded that went out the door at 23k. I got an 06 Mazda 3s hatch with no options(the hatches come with more standard features then the 4 doors, like A/C, power windows/locks, 2.3l motor, etc) out the door at 18k. My car has a little less miles and has the same blue book value.

I still stand by what I predicted earlier.......most ppl will be paying 32K+ for the SS model. And that's assuming that they can land one with NO markup.

As suspected many dealers are gouging (up to 5k markup)... BUT there are dealers that are guaranteeing MSRP in writing.
