looking to trade the 03 Gt for a New 11 or 12 5.0 or even a GT500
I have learned in my years its best to ask questions...if you dont then you will regret it later....so ....
i am looking to trade my 03 GT for a new 5.0 or even a GT500...from what i have read so far...the GT500 isnt worth the money unless you are just dieing to have the cobra.... and i have also ready that soon the GT500 might go to the 5.0 engine....
what are your thoughts and opinions?
and what kind of money should i look to spend?
thanks for your comments

What year GT500?
Also what do you mean it isn't worth the money? I personally like the GT500 more then the 5.0 Mustang. Even 05-09 GT500 still looks better, to me, then the new 5.0. So personally, I don't know what you are talking about by saying it's not worth it.
Lastly, are you going for looks, performance, sex appeal? What to you will make it "not" worth the money?

There's a big difference depending on the dealer you talk to. I've been pricing that exact car in the North Texas area and have gotten quotes from 2000 under sticker to 5000 over. I'm sure there are some people who will pay more than sticker and I have no problem with the dealer that does that (it's called capitalism). But I will absolutly not pay a dollar over sticker.
What part of Texas are you from? Will you be taking it to the track? Which one?

the gt500 power plant has been proven to be a pretty good setup over the years. if you gonna keep it stock then the gt500 is your ticket! a clean, bone stock gt500 will pull a nice chunk of change on down the road.

If you are getting it as your weekend/summer car, the 2011 GT500 hands down.
If you are getting it as your daily driver, the 2011 GT hands down.
You will not want to live with the GT500 every day. Its rough (the ride and the shifter), drinks more gas, and is stiffer. It is, however, the better performer of the two.

I'm in the same boat as you (read my sig)
I'm going with the 11 GT. I don't need the GT500, plus you're paying an extra 20 K just to make old man Shelby some dough. The GT500 is DEF not the value performance car that the 03/04 Cobra was. 50K for any Mustang is ridiculous, in my book.
But yeah, the 5.0 sounds great for me. Good gas mileage, a great engine, and many creature comforts (like sync, etc). I don't like the 2005-2009 bodystyle/interior, so I passed on that gen.

Also, the GT500 is not a daily driver. It is a weekend cruiser and street bruiser. Sure, you can drive it as a DD, I know someone at my job who does his. But with that much value for a limited production car, you really want to keep it less driven as it will help the car hold its value better, especially when it becomes collector value.
For you, since you want both performance and daily driving, the '11 GT 5.0 Coyote is the way to go. Throw on whatever mods, and you do not have to worry about all-original collector value (since the GT is never limited production like the Cobra was and the GT500 is). Non-limited production car value drops like a rock anyway as soon as you sign the papers to take possession of the car.
And with mods, it is very possible to make the 5.0 Coyote pump out enough power to equal, if not exceed the power of a stock GT500 5.4L engine.
