Our mpg numbers have been lower than EU/JAP, our build quality has been lower than EU/JAP, our reliability has been lower than EU/JAP. But now we have something to fireback with. From an enthusiast stand point, yes it sucks, but the US car industry benefits more from being able to export mass quantities of high quality econo-cars, instead of developing a niche car like the Boss. I DARE you to go sit in a Chevy Cruze/Focus and come back and tell me the interior isn't damn near BMW quality. It helps the economy.
That good enough for you?
No, it isn't good enough for me, because I prefer a V8 and something that is as close to a race car you can drive on the street as possible but is somewhat affordable. You take that away and you have a gutless tin can that is no pleasure to drive, soul-less and boring.

I don't believe in this spiel about having to be competitive globally. How many car manufacturers were there in the US when we were not so concerned about exporting? Now 30 years later we have to export cars to keep the last few manufacturers afloat? What changed? Your argument sounds exactly the same as what happened in the 70's, the Dark Ages.

That's my opinion, you're entitled to yours.

Who cares if they stop producing the boss? It's a high priced nitch car. If you want a race car for the street. Just buy a GT and mod it. Thats more affordable than buying a Boss. Ford has been making these limited production run cars forever. Shelbys, Cobras, Mach 1, Boss, Bullit, etc. Thats not going to stop! And all this wining and crying about the number of cylinder a car has. Who cares if it's a V8 if your getting your *** kicked by a turbo charged 4 banger or twin turbo V-6? Performance isn't measured in amount of cylinders you have. And lastly Fords in the business of making money so it only makes sense to design a car that Americans as well as Europeans will want to buy. Selling 50 thousand Mustangs a year over here is great. Selling another 50k in europe is better. Simple math.
