It either hadn't rained in a long time so the roads were slicker than a snotty marble or his tires were bald as a billiard or he punched it and ran out of talent.
Maybe a combination of the three.

i think all new drivers should see clips like this before they get behind the wheel. this is avoidable. staying in the throttle when you're trying to merge and the car gets sideways is not a good idea, especially when roads are wet.
