Default Speedo Gears

Hi, Just Got a nice 91 Mustang GT 5.0 ( stuck in High MPG/LOW fun Honda's
for 14 Years ! ) A V-8 feels GOOD under the right foot !
Question , Stang has 3.73 rear gears ,changed Speedo driven gear to a 23
(from 21 ) told by Ford parts man drive gear is the same T-5 or AOD
(mines AOD ) I Need 7 Drive and 21 Driven speedo gears ( I'm also told )
Anybody know parts #'s , If drive gears are same ? or any other INFO?
Thanks , redmustangman

Cool

Thanks Everybody,
Still no luck on these gears , I'v got the 21 I took out so all
I need is a 7 drive (trans. ) gear for an AOD . Even fords site
doesn't list , WTF somebody has to have an AOD w/373
and want acurate speeds (it sure helps when the Man is cruzin
2 ft. off your rear bumper trying to raise your blood press.)

Welcome! You might want to try asking in the 5.0 Section. I know you are new but this section is for intros and not browsed very often like the tech sections are.

I found a link that might help you...it's an ebay link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/5-0-M...QQcmdZViewItem but this person should be able to help you or even just from reading it, it looks to have the info you are looking for. I use to own a 91 5.0 Mustang GT with an Auto...and swapped some 3.73's in...so I had to change the speedo gear also. The only thing that sucked is they don't last long...since they are plastic gears I went thru 2 of em before I finally said **** it...when they go out the speedometer will start bouncing around all over the place and then just stop working all together! The steeper the ratio the worse it gets on those speedo gears. You might have some luck but it's worth a try anyway. I am so glad that Ford did away with all that and now you need a tuner to change them. It's a more expensive way of doing it but you don't have to worry about the gears stripping...cause there is nothing to replace...it is all electronically done.
