Default Saleen S281 SC, Good Deal?

Hey everyone,

I am a new member to this site and I currently have a 2006 Subaru STI (Please no flamming). But I have owned a ton of muscle cars in the past including a Mach1. But now I feel the need to go back to a muscle car, and have always dreamed of owning a Saleen. I love the looks, and the performance of the new one.

However, as I was looking for one to purchase I ran across a used one at my local dealer. It was a 2007 Saleen S281 SC with 1,500 miles for $42,000. I understand Ford hasn't been doing to well with sales and everything so I was going to ask for a deal under $40,000. Do you think I am crazy, or what are your guys opinons?

Thanks!

What do you think a price I should ask for could be? I was honestly think $36,000 given the economy and how much Ford could use a sale.

It'll be hard to get that low, but try it and maybe start there for negotiations... make sure you have plenty of reasons why you list it so low, and be prepared to walk away (don't worry, they'll call you back very soon lol)

Welcome to the forums. Go low and if you have to go up. You can't start high and go down.

Jeez man, punctuation is your friend.

And yes, I would definitely start at like 30k and work from there. With the economy the way it is, there is no way I would ever pay even close to what a car dealer is asking. I would low-ball the hell outta him man. All he can do is say no....and then call you at home tomorrow and beg you to make a deal. haha
