you guys should start looking at the actual specs on the oil, instead of just going by what the toolbag at your local parking lot uses!
I doubt my motors are any smarter than the toolbag you speak of. To that end I run Mobil 1 because I'm brand loyal and it's used in cars far more expensive than mine directly from the factory and it's benefits are touted by minds far smarter than mine...

theres very little difference between the 2.

10w30 will be a little more thick then 5w30.

if you live in a state where it gets cold in the winter a lot of people will do 10w30 in the summer months and 5w30 in the winter months to help out for cold weather starts.

Royal purple with K&N oil filter. Best there is! My friend use to race, Stock Car racing, and all his engine builders, swore to me royal purple is what to use. Try it, its worth a dollar more cents. Mobile 1 is $6.20~ at Auto zone, royal purple is around $7. Advance Auto Parts only stocks Royal Purple if one of the employees asks for it because its "expensive". Only one in my county stocks it, its the closest one to me!

"On horsepower tv they did a dyno run on a late model camaro before and after and picked up 5 horsepower. just by changing the oil to royal purple

i used mobil 1 but then i tried royal purple. my car ran great b4 but after the change the car didnt smell like oil was burning after a 4hour drive on the german autobahn at speeds from 75 to 130 mph, plus my turbo didnt get quit as hot ( 100 deg. lower temp )
mobil 1 - good for non modified to slightly modified, royal purple - for high stress and much higher performance engines

In my 06 ram hemi I used to use Mobile-1. My 05 Diesel Ram (Cummins) I would use rotella synthetic (12 freakin quarts) My 87 Jeep Cherokee I use whatever is cheapest 20-50. in My Mustang I will be using amsoil. I just got the car it has 53k on it. I no longer have the trucks. My ex-wifes car (2007 fj cruiser) received mobile-1 or penzoil platinum.

I use Mobil 1 5W-20 in my wife's Edge, and Royal Purple 5W-20 in my supercharged F150. You can't go wrong with either.

I think your right.

I use Mobil clean 5000 and a purator(sp) filter in my grand prix and camaro. Neither use oil and they both seem to be fine.

Just change it often and make sure you get a proper amount and they will live forever. Camaro just rolled 210k, had dollar store oil before I got it.
