Which S/C to choose?

RE: Which S/C to choose?
I have used both centrifugal blowers and twin screw on late model mustangs. Once you go twin screw, you won't go back. Also, twin screws eliminate that annoying idle blower whine. -Yea, some say its cool, but it gets old after a while. -Plus, it lets everyone know you have a centrifugal blower under the hood. I don't have anything against centrifugal blowers; they are great products. They just don't have as wide a powerband as screw units. I'd like Vortec better if they offered an air-to-air intercooler with their kits. People will say if you're not making more than 9-10 psi, the intercooler doesn't matter that much. - Trust me, it does matter, even at 8 psi.

with gears low end power isnt necesarry.

With no internal mods, go for a twin screw (eatons are roots), ie, Kenne Bell or Saleen series 4. You'll love the low end tourque. Just ask Mineral.

RE: Which S/C to choose?
When I first started considering a supercharger I was going to go with the Vortech, but I've been recently thinking about the ATI. Can't go wrong with either of those two. Also I was just reading an article that said the centrifugal superchargers are not as hard on your engine as the twin screws are and they don't produce as much heat.

Since the centrifugal blowers perform better in the higher rpm ranges, gears get you into those ranges quicker. Back when I was debating on adding a SC to my GT, the guy that was going to do my tune said that while the twin screw units were fun, he could always get more power in the end from a centrifugal unit.
Anyway you go, you need an intercooler just a Birdieman4 said.

RE: Which S/C to choose?
in the end the final choice you make depends on how you plan to use the car. if it's mostly street, then you want to go with something like a twin screw or roots type that makes good low end torque because torque is what gets the car off the line in the first place. if you're looking more for racing and top end speed, then the centrifugals are the way to go.
I would go with the birdieman and get a twin screw with an intercooler as he certainly knows what he's talking about!
