Default vortech head unit noise

I just got a used v-2 head unit there is no shaft play but it sounds rough when I turn it by hand, just like this.

Is this normal with no oil in it? It seems to turn pretty nice. It just seems loud.

That's a bit louder than mine but the sound is similar (V3)... Maybe get some oil in there and see if it quiets down.

Sounds about right to me. I'm sure oil will quiet it down a bit. It seems to spin freely which is a good sign. They also make a chattering sound at idle, which I have been told is normal. It seems to go away once the revs go over 1000. Once you get it running pull the outlet side piping and check for any oil pooling. If there is any excess, you have a bad seal leaking.
