Default Nitrous part 2

From what I have been hearing, dry nitrous kits are not very good. So with a wet kit, how big of a shot can I get with out risking my piston rings etc? Or does it all depend on when you shoot it? If so when should someone shoot the nitrous for optimum performance with the least damage risk?

Take you pencil and paper out because here we go! I am not going to explain nitrous to you but i am going to explain everything else. There are 2 types of systems you can get. single point dry system or a single point wet system. This means that at some point before the throttle body, a single nitrous jet is inserted into the incoming airflow. The dry single point system consists of a single jet usually plumbed into your air intake. A single solenoid to control the flow of nitrous. Dry systems also include fuel pressure and regulators to make sure there is enough fuel to burn with the increased oxygen that the nitrous will be providing. Dry systems are usually the easiest to install because they have less working parts. It also uses the factory designed fuel divery system to evenly distrubute the fuel. The only limit you have is your capacity of your injectors. Ok now onto the wet. A wet single point system can keep you engine a tad safer at slightly higher horsepower levels. The jet is installed into the incoming air stream but this time the jet delivers nitrous and FUEL. This helps make sure that the proper air/nitrous/fuel ratio is maintained at higher hp levels and you don't have to worry as much about how much fuel your stock injectors can put out. To be on the safe side run a wet system no higher then 70-80hp. as you will start to cause an uneven distribution of fuel. when you get to this point air, fuel and nitrous are coming into the combustion chamber at the opening at the intake manifold. The problem with a single point is that some cylinders like the ones closet to the throttle body will get more nitrous and air and will therefore burn leaner than the rest. To be on the SAFE SIDE once again i would only go for a 50-60hp shot on dry and a70-80hp wet. If you really want to run nirtous it is a better idea to run a direct port. So that all cylinders will get the same amount of air fuel and nitrous instead of getting more in the first couple cylinders and not even reaching the last ones. Either way if you higher then a 80shot you should consider upgrading your fuel system. Depending on the car. Higher output injectors and a good high volume fuel pump are good for higher horsepower. The man key though is to avoid detonation.(damn my font messed up) you must make sure that your fuel can keep your car from running lean. You must run a higher octane gasoline to prevent the mixture from burning too soon. You need to run the highest octane where you live and buy some octane booster. The octane booster helps keeps your fuel from burning to fast that can your engine to blow. Also a good idea is to go with colder spark plugs. That means the plugs themselves can withstand higher heat before they fail. Stock plugs (depeneds on car) in a high heat situation being to heat up and stay hot. Instead of firing when the disubutor sends a singal, the plug will stay hot enought to fire on its own and cause serious problems int he combustion chamber. Causing again the engine to go boom! So man i hope this helps. Took me a while to write this S*** but i hope you know what your getting yourself into. Don't get me wrong its not bad to run nitrous but i can not bare to think to run that s**t through my engine. 1. I think it is cheap hp for the streets but good if your going to drag on a strip like every saturday or whatever. 2. I wanted my engine to survive longer then it would with nitrous on it. Its up to you man. But hopefully this info will help you see what you need to put in nitrous. Good luck and tell me how many shot your going with. Tell me how it turns out.
